School zones won't alert

Is that file from this site and what format is it in?

The actual point of the location must be within 50 feet or so of the roadway in order for the alert to sound. Some of the locations in that file (I think) are further than that from the road. You might need to edit the coordinates to place the point closer to the road.

Also, 300 feet is probably to short a distance to be very useful. You might want to try 1000 or 2000 feet instead.

i have a nuvi 760 & was also unsucessful in getting alerts - and the previous user mentioned that the schools were set back from the street far enough as to now give alerts. i used the "tourguide" name and this worked, but found out that schools are in just about every location and my GPS would sound every few minutes. I decided to delete this type of alert and drive more carefully in school posted areas.
note: i even tried "redlight" , but was not working for me

I downloaded the school zone alert from this website. It said that it was Garmin CSV format.

I have two schools within three miles from my home. They are within fifty feet from the road.

I also downloaded red light enforcement and that seems to alert just fine.

Why don't you provide us with the line number in the file that does not alert and the name of the street you were traversing. I'll bet you get the answer in short order.

Ok, a couple more questions.

Did you try setting the alert to something greater than 300 feet?

Were you traveling on the road on which the POIs were located and traveling in the direction of the POIs?

Yep, the school zone has to be the actual location of the street it's on, not the actual school location. It just needs to be edited regarding distance.
