The only difference is 760 comes with TMC traffic receiver trial and 780 comes with MSN Direct trial.

I don't live in an area where traffic was that important to me, so I chose MSN because of the other add-ons. It has traffic as well. The 760 only comes with MSN Direct Version 1, but you can go to Webupdater and get download the firmware for the MSN Direct Version 2.

Also, to save more money, go with the 750 if Bluetooth isn't that important to you. I would recommend going with a good wireless Bluetooth headset. Sounds better. I use the Bluetooth on my 760 from time to time. The people on the other end say it sounds a little tinny, but it works.

Interesting - the comparison chart says they are both compatible with FM Traffic and MSN Direct. No indication of the actual difference on the chart. I knew there had to be a difference in there somewhere....

Yes, they are all compatible with Fm Traffic and MSN Direct. You just have to click on the each individual picture on the Product page, then click on What's in the Box to see which GPSr comes with what.

The 760 comes with the FM Traffic receiver and the 780 comes with the MSN Direct. Now, one difference you will see out of the box is that the 760 has MSN Direct version 1 installed and the 780 has version 2 installed. However, go to Webupdater and the 760 will download the necessary software to upgrade to version 2.

I have a 350 with the FM Traffic service. I'm not impressed.

I don't have any experience with the MSN Direct service but I know its cheaper and you get more.

FM Traffic is just the traffic service and they want $60/year after the initial 15 month free. Its probably useful on longer trips but absolutely useless for everyday driving back and forth to work.

MSN Direct is Traffic, Gas Prices, Movies showtimes, etc and costs either $130 lifetime or $50/year.

Personally, I'd get the 780. Just because I know the FM traffic service sucks.

I would get the 780, I got the 760 last December before the 780 came out. I ended up purchasing the MSN traffic receiver for the added functionality of movie times, weather, etc. The traffic reporting is pretty much the same as the TMC FM traffic receiver that came with the 760.

Look at the pricing, I guess. Circuit City has the 760 for $450. If you purchase MSN for $130, thats $580 thereabouts. The 780 is on sale for $700 and it includes MSN. You can save about $120 by going the 760. It's amazing how quickly these come down. I bought my 760 at Christmas and it was $700. Luckily, I had coupons, so I got it for around $600 by the time it was over.

Either way, you will get a great GPSr.

Good luck with that. I can find all sorts of "great prices" on the net but they are almost all from ripoff vendors.

I don't know what vendor you found with that price but it sounds too good to be true.
