Uploading POI's to a C330

I've got a Nuvi 750 which I've uploaded POI's too without any problems. My son came over today with his Streetpilot c330 to which I tried to upload some POI's to his unit without any success. POI Loader couldn't find the device and when I went on Windows Explorer, I didn't see it on the file page either.

Is their any different procedure for the c330 than the Nuvi 750? I didn't have his USB cable so I used mine; could that be the problem? Thanks.

The c330 is not a mass

The c330 is not a mass storage unit so it will not show up as a drive. The process using POI Loader and directing it to the main folder is the same process for most Garmins. Not sure about the plug. The POI Loader does have to list the C330 before it will work.Check the connection and try once more it should work.I see posts all the time on here of using usb connectors from other devices.I will not do it.

poi Loading

some devices are more fickle about using the correct cable than others I use a c530 streetpilot and it doesn't care on windows XP but only the correct cable seems to work right on my MAC G4 using OSX 10.5

I am able to Load

I am able to Load POIs to my C330 and C340 with POI Loader on either my Mac or PC with no problem.
Either Automatic or Manual.

Loading C330

I use the POI loader regularly on my C330. It works very smoothly.

C330 Loading

I only can use the cable that came with the C330. Works with no problem with poi loader or going direct to the unit from mapquest.

POI upload to c330

I have a c340 and have uploaded POIs until it wont hold any more. I also uploaded a few POIs into a c330 for a friend of mine using my c340 cable. Could be a bad port on your son's c330, or maybe the cable is different. Big difference between the 350 and the 750. That is my only imput on the subject.

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

Thanks for all the replies

Thanks for all the replies folks. I'm going to have him try it with his cable and see what happens.

You need the USB Drivers

For the C330, you have to load the USB drivers onto the machine in question in order for POILoader to see it.

Might need device drivers

This might indicate that the C330 needs a special USB device driver to be installed before the computer will be able to send to it.

Drivers

I think that was the problem right there. I went to Garmin and the manual says to upload the drivers before connecting the USB cable. The unit used to be mine and I thought I had done that but, maybe not.
