Will WebUpdater give me more voice choices for my nuvi 260?

I live in Maryland. I understand that not everything can be pronounced perfectly, but the pronunciation of "Maryland" is terrible. If I can try other voices (British, Australian), I might not have to hear things like, "Turn right on May WILLin 514." There is a very slight pause after "may" and the emphasis is on "Will."

It took my wife and I three turns on Maryland state highways before we realized that "May Willin" was supposed to be Maryland. We laughed at how badly the unit pronounced the name of a an entire state. After the tenth time, we weren't laughing much.

And, yes, I'll accept other mispronunciations due to American/British/Australian language differences if I can hear something closer to "Maryland."

Pronunciation

Hi, folks,

Don't feel bad. A road near me is named, "Atlanta Road", but "Jack" says, "At Lant Road". This is only one of many examples of stuff we've become accustomed to, and like you, laughed at many times.

When you run Webupdater, it will list all the available voices for your unit.

Be aware that all the voices have their own peculiarities.

Just pick a voice in a language

Just pick a voice in a language you don't understand. They you won't notice the mispronunciations. smile

I know how you feel on the names, Some here really get slaughtered, even started to pronounce them wrong myself.

Webupdater

MM didn't I read here that the new update fro webupdater was causing problems with some units or was it POI' loader?

I'm not aware of any recent issues with WebUpdater or POI Loader.

Some people might be specific firmware updates on specific models, but I'm not aware of a widespread software issue. (Other than the Bluetooth firmware issue which is separate from the firmware.)

UPDATE

Thanks i thind it was something about 4.21 and 4.3 but on sure about which model There was mention about bluetooth but you could download without donig anything with bluetooth.
