nuvi "+" dialing prefix

I have a nuvi 360 and I connect to the Samsung A900 via Bluetooth.
When I dial a POI the nuvi inserts a "+" to the number. Example: +1-111-111-1111. My phone does not like the "+." Anyone know how to remove the prefix?

Leading prefix and dashes are ignored usually for NA numbering p

Hi,

As per the E.164 standards and North america numbering plan, your phone should ignore the leading prefix and any dashes. Please check your phone regional settings and see if you have chosen some different dialing plan.

Sprint not friendly to the + dial prefix

Called and spoke with Sprint Advanced Tech Support. The tech pretty much said the Sprint network does not cater to the + dial prefix. He suggested I enable international dialing on the phone (contract) and/or contact Garmin and ask them to make a change to their product that will allow a user to enable/disable the + dialing prefix.

He did warn me when I enable intn'l dialing and I am close to Canada/Mexico and I dial from the Nuvi, ensure I am calling a US based number. I could inadvertently call intn'l because of the proximity and be charged for it.

Sprint not friendly to the + dial prefix

That sounds a little goofy - I would try the treocentral.com forum - their are a lot of Sprint users in the forum on the Treo 650 and ask if they have to do any work arounds on the +. I realize you don't have a Treo but you are indicating that this is a Sprint issue and not a phone specific issue.

Garmin is working on it...

Well, I talked with Sprint, had international dialing enabled on the plan. No luck. Cannot dial POI because of the + prefix.

I sent an email to Garmin Tech Support. They were quick to get back to me. They said they are aware of the problem and are working on incorporating a fix in the next firmware release. Did not specify ETA.

Sounds like Garmin is on the ball!
