im stumped

splash screen 330,ive tried to load a new pic following the node i was told too and all i ended up with is a start and splash screen of the same thing i have ximage downloaded and changed the pix size and changed it to bmp file and it wont got to the gps,any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

one other thing

is the splash screen the first thing you see when you turn the unit on or is the screen that says "where to -"veiw map?

Name

Did you rename the pic you wanted to load to the same name as the one you downloaded?

On most garmins, it is splash screen.bmp

Also, the size (225 KB) and resolution must be the same (360 x 240).

The "SPLASH SCREEN" is the first screen, even before the warning screen.

splash screen

thanks now i know,i did type it in wrong after looking at the 2 files sise by side i noticed i didnt capitalize the s in both words, and how do you if you can, change the screen shot it lets me get it from the unit but wont let me change it,the pic always wants to go to the splash screen, thanks again. ok never mind the screen shot i understsand now abotu that.

You Can't

The screen shot is just that, a screen shot. That function is there to allow you to download the screen if you want to save what is on it. It is not a file on the device.

Actually, at least on the

Actually, at least on the nuvi 350, it is an actual file. it is a .bmp file type.

Try this node

http://www.poi-factory.com/node/839

Looks like one of the original posts on this topic and full of information. Remember that c3xx are not mass storage devices, and the later units (c5xx and some nuvi's) will let you load multiple shots on your unit and you can choose between them. Size is the key.

I understand that

Asian,

I understand that it is a file on most, but we are talking about the C330. The screen shot function is there only to allow you to capture what is currently displayed.

Screen Shot

Am I missing something here?
Unless the unit MUST be connected to a PC for the screen shot to work, then it MUST be stored IN the unit somewhere/somehow, at least for a short time.

Yep, you are

Sorry, but on the C330 it must be connected to the machine and downloaded to the pc as is. The unit does not store the "screen shots" as a file. Other units do this, but not the C330. It is not a mass storage device.

Now, it does have the images stored for the unit to use, but they are not accessible using ximage. Only the splash screen and a screen shot of whatever is being displayed at the time.

Everybody is simultaneously saying, "Ahhh, now I understand . . . " Thanks, Glenn, for the explanation.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Not a problem

Sorry I wasn't clear the first time. We aim to please.

See my post above. Just not like you do for any nuvi or c5xx.
