The things they don't tell you ...

Probably not news to veteran GPSers, but this new one just discovered something new on his month-old Nuvi 260 ... when driving around without a destination set, it displays the direction (compass) and mph. Today was the first time I used it without a destination set.

Had never seen it before and had not seen it mentioned here ... a nice feature to know about when you know where you are going or to use until you encounter unknown turns close to a new destination.

You don't see the compass in

You don't see the compass in route mode? I can see it when I am in route mode. But yes, it is nice.

The mph is more useful to me though since I ride on the edge of the speed limit.

THe 260 shows ETA and

The 260 shows ETA and distance to turn on route/map screen ... you have to click over to trip info/dashboard screen to access direction and compass ... I would rather direction/mph on route screen, preferably user configurable, than the ETA.

Still a great unit and a great buy at $247.

Ummm... my 350 is the same, but I still see the compass. I wish that I had the speed instead of the ETA as well on the map screen.

Nice feature

Another reason why I'm becoming really dependent on my GPS. Can't get enough.

No compass on Nuvi 660

I don't see compass on my Nuvi 660. If someone can see it, will you share your methods?

Touch the lower left corner of your screen where the speed (or ETA if being routed) displays and it will take you to a new screen.

Just tried it.

I just tried it. I saw the compass. Just wish the little compass would show on the map. However, it's not that important to me.

ETA vs Speed

I would rather have the speed option other then the ETA. That ETA is off the wall which I can do without.
