No left turn allowed

There's this one particular spot where my Garmin wants me to make a left turn even tho' a "No Left Turn" sign is posted there. Is this the type of error I should report to Navteq and/or Garmin? I have no idea if their map database carries that level of detail.

Have an intersection near my house with two left turning lanes and the Nuvi wants me to make a right and then a U turn instead of telling me to turn left.

Do you report a tracking

Do you report a tracking problem to NavTeq as well? There is a section of a road where my GPSr goes crazy, and it takes it a couple of seconds to correct itself.

Any help would be appreciated.

NavTeq

How do the errors get reported, do they have a form on their website?

Navteq

That's a good one! Just curious - If you change your setup to avoid U turns, does it go for the left or does it does it take you w-a-y off course?

(And to walleye1 - thanx for the link! Much appreciated.)

I have it setup to avoid U turns and stills wants me to make one when it is not neccesary.
I reported the error thru Garmin.

There are...

..a lot of places I've found where the maps don't recognize a break in the center median for left turns. It usually happens at small shopping centers and strip malls where the driveway isn't recognized, so the GPS just sees a street address and wants you to go to the next cross street and make a u-turn to come back on the right side of the road. I've run across this several times.

I also have 2 places that I've found so far where the center median ends and there is apparently some mapping code there that makes the GPS think I have to turn to continue straight ahead. One is at a cross street... it tells me to turn on to the cross street, then continue on the street I'm on, which would be an impossible maneuver. I know better, but it would be VERY confusing to a person who is unfamiliar with the area.

I've submitted these changes to NavTek/Garmin.

It can be done

However your boss may avoid giving you a paycheck and then you won't have money for gasoline rendering the GPSr useless for vehicle navigation.

How detailed

do the corrections have to be. Exactly what are they looking for... A description of what is wrong with what needs to be done to correct it? Lat & long?

.

Pretty easy, actually (just did it now).
You have a choice of using Lat/Long, structured street adress, or freeform. I entered a town and zip code and that opened up a map that put me close. You can then move/zoom around the map and double-click on the exact location you want to report on. A couple of radio buttons and detailed comments and I was done.
