Updated on 10/23/2007: There were a few points fixed and some descriptions updated.

Here's the POI file for all time zone changes covering the lower 48 states.

Proximity Alerts Note: If you include the term "redlight" into the file name ( e.g. "Time Zones redlight.csv" ) , POILoader in express mode will set proximity alerts at 1/4 miles away.

There are 323 points. There is no data for Hawaii or Alaska, but I suppose there is a change when driving from Canada to Alaska, eh?. I used only State Highways, US Highways or Interstate Highways to plot these points. If a highway follows a timezone boundry, I've plotted the start and end points of that road.

On most Interstates and frontage roads there are several points very close together to get the proximity alerts to work, based on your direction of travel. In the near future, I will convert this .CSV file to a .GPX to get better ( more flexible ) results from proximity alerts.

I used these 3 source web sites to create these points.
http://mapper.acme.com/ - http://nationalatlas.gov/printable/images/pdf/reference/time... and http://www.aaa.com/

Time zones that do not follow a state boundry require best-guess points based on the maps available from AAA.

Mental note: send letter to the governor of the Hoosier state. My fingers still hurt from all the special points needed to plot their timezone.

I would entertain any comments or ideas if you use this forum: http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6585
