Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H1

The newest FEATURE update for Windows 10 is available for installation:
Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H1 (KB5003254)

There was also the latest .NET update:
2021-KB5003254 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 2004, Windows Server, version 2004, Windows 10, version 20H2, Windows Server, version 20H2 and Windows 10 Version 21H1

Installed without issue and in about 10-15 minutes for both updates. I have a fairly cherry system and didn't see any differences.

Whew I wanna hold off. I'm usually behind at least a couple weeks just in case. But I will be updating eventually!

Worked for me

Now to see what settings were changed, if any.

Note the keyword "PREVIEW"

The fact that both of these updates include the word "Preview" in their description is exactly why I won't install them. Doing so puts you right into the category of being a guinea pig. They exist so MS can determine any potential problems within a future release. Here are the MS descriptions of the updates:

KB5003214 May 25, 2021—KB5003214 (OS Builds 19041.1023, 19042.1023, and 19043.1023) Preview

KB5003254 May 25, 2021-KB5003254 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 2004, Windows Server, version 2004, Windows 10, version 20H2, Windows Server, version 20H2 and Windows 10 Version 21H1

Still Optional?

Noticing that this feature update is still optional....It's been out there since May. Any insights? OK to install??

Probably OK but no rush here

This feature update won't be a pound-the-table, must-have update for most users. Here's what's included:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/whats-new...

Unless you see a need for one of those fixes, it won't hurt to wait until they push you to it. It seems to be reasonably stable, but as always, a few users will have issues. Why not let someone else find any problems?

Given how little has been added to this one--there are more minor bugfixes than new features--it's clear that Microsoft is saving feature innovations for Win 11, which looks to many early release testers to be nothing more revolutionary than another semiannual Win 10 feature update, though there may be more changes coming, of course.

21H1 surprise!

I have two old Windows 10 PC's that have been stuck on Windows version 20H2 since Nov. 2020. One is a 2009 Asus ROG laptop that originally came with Windows Vista. The other is a 2015 CyberPowerPC desktop that was one of the first PC's shipped with Windows 10. After announcing Windows 11, I figured that Microsoft would abandon further updates to these old boxes, so I was surprised today to see the 21H1 feature update offered on both. The update installed on both PC's without any issues so far.

Yeah, Right....

I got enough problems so I don't install PREVIEWS (i.e. beta testing, find problems for us because our testers are on coffee break) software.

21H1 not a preview.

The 21H1 feature update has been out since last May so it isn't a preview. My two newer computers were offered the 21H1 update by automatic update last May, but it was not available for my 2 old computers until yesterday, Nov. 5.

no thanks

Just what I DON'T need is more "features" I'll never use to slow down my computers.
