Microsoft is ending it's Internet Explorer browser

In the news recently: "Microsoft is ending its Internet Explorer browser. In an announcement, the company said Wednesday that it was putting the final nail in the coffin and it will stop supporting Internet Explorer 11 on June 15, 2022. It's transitioning to Microsoft Edge."

It's been about twenty years since I last used Internet Explorer. I've never used Microsoft Edge and I don't intend to start.

RIP Internet Explorer.

Thats

So nice

It was always a disaster

People still use that?I use

People still use that?

Certain streaming services work best on certain browsers. I think hbomax or netflix is best with edge.

I use firefox as my primary browser. It's nicely configured with addons and UI layout to my liking.

Secondary is opera, different google account configured there.

Third is chrome. Same reason as opera.

If i had a need for a fourth browser, it would be vivaldi.

This does come at some expense of ram. Not much of issue here, 64GB, 3900X, and plenty of storage including 2 nvme drives.

fresh territory

I do use Microsoft Edge once every month or three. I specifically use it when I want to go to a webpage that won't have cookies for me or otherwise know about me from a previous visit.

No real loss

I haven’t used Explorer since I retired 10 years ago and I don’t like Edge. I mainly use Chrome since my internet provider doesn’t function well with Explorer and I have never liked Edge.

In other news...

In other news, Internet Explorer was still being supported by Microsoft as of early 2021. I thought it was long dead and buried. It does seem like at least 15 years since I last used it.

Good riddance

Good riddance to a browser that had a lot of flaws.

Really?

I'm guessing it will get a new name and fresh coat of paint.

Good riddance. But chromium

Good riddance. But chromium based Edge is a big improvement, especially for those who just use stock applications on a Windows 10 install.

Hasta la Vista

Hasta la Vista IE!

Not a loss

Was never that good

Internet Explorer

Never did use Internet Explorer that much. The Microsoft Edge is a pretty good browser. I used it for a while until I got hooked on the Brave browser. Brave seems to load faster then the other two.

Why not just use incognito or private browsing? For the few times I visit facebook a month, that's the only way I'll do it.

Firefox user for as long as

Firefox user

for as long as I can remember...

Done!

IE was dead man walking...

Haven't used for years.

Bing

The only time I used Internet Explorer was briefly, once a day to collect Bing points. The Bing points could then be converted to Amazon gift cards. Yes, Microsoft will actually pay you to use their search engine...

Anyone remember......

Netscape ?

I remember Netscape. Also I remember using Compuserve where one would type in the search term "Go xxxxxx" and everything found was displayed on the monochrome monitor as alphanumeric, no images.

Everything has changed, for the better I might add. laugh out loud

Now

If they'll get did of that damn BING as well
