Making an Appointment

Has anyone every heard of making an appointment to just drop your RV off at the shop, then have them schedule another time to check what is wrong before they work on it?

I called the shop the end of March to take my Motorhome in to have the onboard generator worked on. They made me an appointment for the 7th of April I took it in and now they tell me that was only an appointment to drop it off at the shop. They have had it for two weeks and still haven't looked at it to determine what is wrong.

Parts Issue?

I don't have a motorhome and have not experienced anything like this with my car.

However, with the COVID situation, they could be having problems getting parts.

The first appointment might be to evaluate the parts issue to give you a realistic time frame for repairs.

Make an Appointment

I was thinking about parts, but when I called them they stated the first appointment was only to drop the motorhome off at the shop.

SUV Service

I used to be able to drop off my vehicle at the garage first thing in the morning and then pick it up in the afternoon. Now I have to book a time to drop it off and they give me a time when they will pick me up to collect it. COVID precautions, car is wiped down when I pick it up and getting a ride back to the dealers its one person at a time in the back seat.

I would go get my RV

I would go get the RV and tell them to tell you when the appointment to work on it is and then bring it back. You never know they may be using it.

Busy Season May Be The Issue

I think the problem is that shop is quite busy at this time of the year, especially now with the Covid restrictions easing up and people looking to travel more.

You are probably right.

Our local bicycle repair shop is the same way ... 2 to 4 weeks out on service/repairs, even for simple seasonal tune ups. The increased popularity and sales of bicycles during the COVID pandemic have made the situation even worse.

wow ...

This makes me glad I don't have an RV anymore. It was hard enough getting service in the pre-COVID days. I don't believe I have that level of patience nowadays.
