Microsoft released two Win 10 updates:
November 30, 2020—KB4586853 (OS Builds 19041.662 and 19042.662)
and
November 30, 2020-KB4586876 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 2004, Windows Server, version 2004, Windows 10, version 20H2, and Windows Server, version 20H2
The first one installed quickly, install and reboot took about one minute. The second one for install and reboot took about five minutes.
I might be imagining this, but after each reboot the windows that had been open before the reboots were still open after the reboots. Have Windows updates always restored the open windows or is this something new? I just don't recall open windows still being open after a reboot.

Interesting question. I have always closed down all the visible programs before doing an update, so this question has never occurred to me. I will be curious to hear the answer.

I'm like Tom, but a comment about "Preview" updates

I'm like Tom in that I shut everything down prior to doing the updates.
On another note I rarely if ever do any update with the word "Preview" in its name. These are, quoting Microsoft, "...for customers to proactively download, test, and provide feedback." I prefer to let others do the testing and I'll read about the results in the "news" on the web.

Automatically save and restart apps is disabled on mine
And all my Firefox windows are still open after a reboot. Usually I shut everything down and reboot myself but I missed this week on one.

The restart option is and has been "off" forever. Quite frankly I had forgotten about this post until right now, so I just tested again. No, upon restart the open apps did not come up by themselves. Maybe I got into some cheap, Chinese acid or sump'n.

There is a setting in Firefox that I think was new in 2018 that can make Firefox open on a Windows reboot and do so with all the previous tabs open. See https://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-stop-firefox-from-open...
