My nuvi 3597 no longer connects to My iphone XS max afte latest software update. Don't know whether or not it is an apple or garmin thing.
I meant to say that it no longer connects to garmin smartphone link.
The last software update for the nuvi 3597 (version 5.50) was Oct. 24, 2017. The only updates since then have been for things like timezone file, localization data, maps, voices, etc. and I don't think these types of updates would affect Smartphone Link. Of course, Smartphone Link itself has been updated, so that could be causing your issues.
My two 3597's are still working fine with Smartphone Link, but I use Android, not iPhone.
I sometimes have problems connecting SmartLink to my iPhone 7. I usually need to either 1) stop & restart SmartLink on the iPhone. 2) Power OFF the iPhone and then back ON Restarting SmartLink after the power cycle. 3) Power cycling the 3597. I have always managed to get SmartLink to connect by restarting SmartLInk and/or power cycling the devices.

I have noticed that my Samsung does not link anymore. I have been too busy to look into what happened and have not done anything but i would like to know if there is a fix.
I have had issues in the past with Bluetooth dropping and not connecting with my 3597. I was recently on a trip where everything was working fine and I stopped at a restaurant. Upon getting back in the car, I found that SmartLink was not working. I checked Bluetooth and found that it was not connecting. Reconnected Bluetooth and everything started working just as before. Bluetooth can be fickle and it doesn't always do what it is supposed to do.
I also have use a 3597, latest software and an iPhone X running Smart Link. For no reason I can yet identify, the Bluetooth connection goes lost sometimes after I shut off the car. I have to tell the phone to forget the device then it finds it and pairs. It may go for weeks before I have to reconnect again. It has been doing this all along. I also believe this is a Bluetooth issue rather than a phone or Garmin problem.
