Amazon Devices Recorded Couple’s Home Chats Then Sent to Random Contact

A family based in Portland had their home wired with various Amazon devices to control their home’s heat, lights and security system to make their lives safer and more comfortable. Problem is a private conversation inside their private abode was recorded by the voice controlled smart speaker known as Amazon’s Alexa and shockingly had their recorded audio sent to the phone of a random family contact based in Seattle.

The woman of the house who only wanted to be identified by her first name Danielle said that she and her husband even used to joke around before and say they think the devices are listening to what they’re talking.

The joke, however, turned into horrific reality when they received an alarmed and alarming call from their contact telling them, ‘unplug your Alexa devices right now. You’re being hacked.’

Never argue with a pig. It makes you look foolish and it anoys the hell out of the pig!

Well

That is what I predicted some time ago when a POI Factory member told us all that he was/did buy this ALEXA thing.

There's just no way this thing just sits there waiting for you to say "Alexa", it "listens" all the time!

Of course it does. How is it supposed to know what you are saying if it doesn't listen all the time? It's sort of like me hearing all kinds of things around me but I only respond if someone calls my name.

it's the only way...

it can hear the "wake up command" of...

"Yo, STUPID!" razz

Now, with that... have you ever wondered about being on the phone and calling a place where they put you on hold for a "couple of minutes" and they play music to soothe the savage beast.... Oh yeah, what ever you say while you're on hold can be recorded too...

Well of course it listens

Well of course it listens and now it's confirmed that it creates logs.

From article: "Danielle said that the engineer profusely apologized to her. She shared: “They said ‘our engineers went through your logs, and they saw exactly what you told us, they know exactly what happened, and we’re sorry.”

Unfortunately, in spite of the admission, the engineer from Amazon Danielle spoke to did not even provide her with an explanation as to why the incident happened."

So why do they need to keep logs? To parse the logs and target your household for Ads? Probably. To gather information for other agencies? Maybe.

I wouldn't allow any of these spies in my house.

And don't use the old argument that cell phones are just as bad. This is a whole new class of spying and a blatant invasion of personal privacy.

I hate when I hear stuff

I hate when I hear stuff like this. The more convenient technology gets, the more risk for privacy. I hope these stories highlight the public's need for privacy!

When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It is only difficult for the others. It is the same when you are stupid.
