Maine Moves to Protect Broadband Privacy in Wake of GOP Sellout

 

Last March March, the GOP used the Congressional Review Act to kill FCC broadband privacy protections that would have given consumers significantly more control over their own data. As we noted at the time, States from Wisconsin to Washington rushed in to pass their own rules protecting consumer broadband privacy, creating a patchy framework where some consumers are protected, and some aren't. Cities like Seattle also passed new ordinances in the hopes of protecting consumers from wholesale collection and sale of their personal data by large ISPs.
