Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – December 2016

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.

This thread will be closed on the last day of the month and a new one will be opened.

went to parents (both sets) for weekend

Third time in a week to mine. At this point, I bet the GPS's "guess which roads he likes" algorithm is beyond confused since we went a different way each time and each direction.

At my in-laws, where I wasn't supposed to have any chores, got to do some electrical work.

Trip.

Went to the hardware store to get some glue.

Christmas Trip

Did a round trip to MD from East TN for Christmas. One interesting glitch was on the way when Veronica (my Garmin 2589) told us to exit earlier than I expected. I exited while the wife was checking backup maps on her iPad to see where she was taking us. As soon as we had exited the instruction was to loop back onto the on ramp and get back on the interstate. By the time we waited through a couple of traffic light changes my wife found that the state roads from there would be an interesting route so we headed off on our own till Veronica could figure out what we were doing. I have no idea what caused the strange exiting. Seems like Veronica has been having trouble understanding commands lately to, I think maybe she had a mild stroke.

STOOPID NUVI 350 too old

Went to Santa Barbara CA. Found out only have SE states loaded on My old Garmin. Time to learn how to clone. Have 3 of these. Not going to buy 3 new Garmin. Easier to learn how to clone than teach Hubby how to use new GPS. lol

Cloning ... not for nuvi 350

Cloning is not the right solution for a nuvi 350. It is because this old nuvi has a file size restriction of 2 GB for a single file. If you clone the full NA map to a SD card, it will be larger than 2 GB and nuvi 350 will not be able to read it.

What you need to do is split the map putting some regions in internal memory and the remaining regions on SD, keeping both files under 2 GB. Use Garmin Express to install the largest map that will fit in internal storage, and at the same time install the map to the computer. Then use MapInstall to install the remaining regions to a SD card. That will give you access to the full NA map on your 350.
