Winter is HERE

Well, winter is actually everywhere sad

Now it can get pretty cold up here (-24C or -11F on Saturday), but we only have a few centimeters of snow. The media is reporting that areas around Buffalo got 5 feet of snow in one dump! The media is also reporting that there were freezing temperature in EVERY state - including Hawaii.

Yikes - it is only November! evil

Shovel? No

Selling house and moving to an "Over 55" community next month. Won't have to shovel snow any longer. As long as it doesn't snow before then.

Down to 25°...

…last night. But the forecast for the Eastern Shore, Maryland is for 70° next Monday. Change is good. Especially this kind of change.

Here in Arizona too. Winter is not welcome around here. You can drive 2 hours up to the mountain if you want to be in the snow (Snowball will open next week I think) but downtown here, nope!

Yea it was freezing here in Tucson

The high only got up to 70 something yesterday, time to get out the Northface parka and mittens

November = SNOW and COLD....

looks like

buffalo and that area is in for a more normal winter.

WAZE might want to add a icon indicating help needed, something for closed roads.

if anyone is familiar with 511(state road information) about 10 states have release mobile apps for ios/android.

On ABC Evening News a couple of days ago, I saw a segment where Alex Perez repeated that the normal "distance" between your car and the car in front of you should be 3 seconds. However, in wintery conditions that "distance" should be increased to 8 seconds.

Silicon Valley--

We're expecting some rain over the next few days and possibly into next week; we really need it.

Of course the first half day of rain it's good to avoid the roads while the coating of oil, debris, and idiot drivers get washed away...

Will be happy to see a boost in the temperatures, too! At least we're not getting slammed like the poor folks in NY - that much snow at once would drive me to leave the area, not matter how nice it might be during the rest of the year.

Sunny Arizona

Sure glad we're down here in Arizona, and not in the Midwest. It's nice to be able to say "Damn it's cold" and you're talking about 45 degrees and not 25 below.

Did anyone verify freezing temps in Hawaii? Sounds like an oversight by someone looking at a map of the lower 48. The trade winds off the Pacific keep the temps there pretty damn stable.

winter is NOT actually everywhere :)

It depends on which part of the world you are. Southern hemisphere, 88 F yesterday!

As one old local rock singer said long time ago, "All the time somebody is waking up around the world. All the time somebody is drinking a beer, as well. Here's my cheers to that guy, whereever you are!" You can imagine how he ended up.

Come down under (either "that" down under or any other) and you'd enjoy summertime in November.

Too much snow in my front

Too much snow in my front lawn to mess up my Christmas decoration planning, yet not enough snow to open the rest of the ski slopes. crying

We'll see how the rest of winter goes

I hope this winter isn't too bad as a whole. Next month I am moving to a colder climate. I am also moving from a housing situation which doesn't require snow shoveling to one that does. I hope I don't regret the timing, but we'll just have to wait and see!

Weather

Not to bad here in Tucson, but have had some cool nights and day time temps in the low 70's.

That report of subfreezing temperature in Hawaii may have been valid.

Don't forget that there is at least one location in the islands that is at a very high elevation - so high that there is a major observatory located there. In the past I've seen photos of snow at the observatory.

On the other hand, Honolulu is a different matter when it comes to temperature . . . smile
