Had to fix my 10-year old lawn mower this morning. Got some rusted-in-place parts freed up and greased. Had to order new drive wheels (plastic gear teeth ground off) and a new return spring. Might get a couple more years out of the old girl.

Here in NC it's been raining a lot on average most days of the week. Wearying ...

Ever have a bad few weeks?

Ice maker went out

Repair man fixed it

A couple of weeks later the Refrigerator thawed out everything and then refroze it.
Repair man came out, ordered new compressor. He was working on it 3 hours and everything thawed out before he told me he would have to order a part.

Repair man came back when compressor was delivered took some leak readings and said not the compressor and not the ice maker but a sensor. He replaced the sensor and took the new compressor with him.

4 hours later the Refrigerator was 50 degrees and the Freezer was 40 degrees, water from the ice maker melting on the floor.

Sears Repair will be here for the forth time Friday (I hope not the same repair man)...

I bought food after the other repair calls and ended up throwing it away but not even cold enough to buy any food this time.

Just went to get ice in the ice chest so we can have our evening cola and the directional and temperature notification unit (the one that tells us what direction and how hot it is) in the truck smoked and went out.....

What next?

No food but we are safe and happy, I guess that is all that matters.

AND IT'S ONLY TUESDAY...(WELL AT SECOND THOUGHT IT'S ONLY WEDNESDAY)

Thunderstorm tomorrow and in the midst of another hot time. In fact, it looks like next week will be another burst of heat.

I bought a new Kenmore with extended service/warranty. A year later, it would not fill. No problem I think. It's gotta be a sensor. The guy replaces the sensor, but tub won't fill all the way. Six trips & six weeks later,later the service man says "It's not supposed to fill up all the way. Water saving design."
Happy ending. I wrote a nice letter to Sears Inc. They sent me an $800 coupon for a washer of my choice.

That is, normal summertime weather pattern once again. . .

Looking forward to the weekend already! Spent the lady weekend in Vegas, used my GPS, except for 1 drive - and went the wrong way!

The city’s two police radar vans are scheduled to snap photographs of speeders at these locations today:

5 to 8:30 a.m. near Lineweaver Elementary School at Columbus Boulevard and Brown Way; and near Tully Elementary School, in the 1700 block of West El Rio Drive.

9 a.m. to noon on Fort Lowell Road between Swan Road and Columbus Boulevard; and on Euclid Avenue between Broadway and Sixth Street.

1:30 to 4 p.m. near St. Ambrose School on Tucson Boulevard near Broadway; and near Lynn Urquides Elementary School, in the 1700 block of West Ajo Way.

4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Country Club Road between Broadway and 22nd Street; and on Silverbell Road near Ironwood Hill Drive.

Almost Friday Finally..........

... at REI. Although I'm becoming concerned that my Oregon 450 is becoming increasingly unstable w/daily use, the new Oregon 600 is certainly no 'slam dunk' upgrade for me. To start: I certainly would recommend that anyone who might be considering a deep woods hiker to delay actual purchase of this this gorilla glass face until they themselves can give it an in store, in hand test run. Tip: be sure to bring a fresh set of batteries & play close attention to the way the instrument responds to your usual method of interactive touch.

(Of course you want GPS+GLONASS in a hiker. That's not the issue. After all the eTrex30 has been available for > 1 yr & that unit is both stable & reliable, particularly when you need it. So there are alternatives to the new "O" 600 series)

Hi all.

some nice summer-like weather in the DC area.

Another Great Day in Paradise!

It is a beautiful day today.

A different repair man came out again Friday...They could talked to Sears Tech Support and they could not fix my year old refrigerator so Sears said I could get a new refrigerator, either one like we had or pick another model. We went to the store and picked out a new unit with more options than the one our unit had and it will only cost $400 for a new Refrigerator.

The only draw back....Most units could be delivered next week but the only one I wanted will take 4 1/2 weeks to be available.

We have been bringing in ice for our cokes for a while now so we are used to it. We eat out most of the time for lunch and do granola bars for breakfast and peanut butter sandwiches for dinner... Will have to find more options that don't need refrigerated.

The only good thing about this I have lost 4 pounds...Maybe I can loose more if we watch where we eat out...

Has a real downpour last night evem blocked direct tv. in the middle of a game. Supposee to be more today and tomorrow.

The San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge will be closed over the Labor Day Weekend. Trying to figure out best route to get from San Mateo to the Rib Cookoff in Sparks Nevada. Looks like its going to be crowded coming back with the new bridge opening on Monday after Labor Day as well. Not looking forward to all the extra traffic. I will rely on the GPS to route me there and back.

It would be interesting to see whether the latest map update shows 1 or 2 bridges.

That's why I was never interested in satellite TV services. My in-laws have it and even heavy cloud cover will block their signal.

I will be last this week.

Directv loses signal only during thunderstorms. I can switch to the antenna for network shows. I had problems with snow and ice buildup with DISH. In our little town, Mediacom is not reliable at all.
