Yes,

I remember.

Good luck tomorrow, John.

What time do you have to be there - early or late?

Lots of memories...

Brought back many many memories. Some took a bit longer to recall than others. Great post

Today is a gift, that's why they call it the present...

I do remember ...

Used to play outside from nine or ten in the morning till the streetlights came on, then it was time to go in the house. I was trusted to conduct myself properly at all times, or there was hell to pay if I didn't. The worst thing my Dad could say to me was, "Go get the belt." It hung on the hall closet doorknob. If my Mother said, "Wait till your father gets home," I knew I was in for it.

"Go get the belt."....

We also played outside, and rode our bikes all over hell and creation.

My dad used to double his belt and then push it together and pull it apart to crack it like a whip.

Excellent website!!

you are in our thoughts this morning

Take care John.

Are we there yet?

I also remember ...

Wading through waist deep snow to get to the outhouse.

No air conditioning in home, car or stores.

Burning corn cobs in the cooking range to stay warm.

Car engines needing overhaul after 40000 miles.

No automatic transmissions

Taking the hot water bottle to bed with you.

Inner tubes.

Pay phones instead of cell phones.

Trying to fold a paper map the right way so you could navigate while driving.

Carrying water in buckets from the well for drinking, cooking and bathing.

Hot water came from a tea kettle.

Thanks for the memories folks, but I will take the modern days. Best wishes John and get well soon.

The one thing I found out was I couldn't do situps for a couple weeks. wink That made getting in and out of chairs (recliners) and bed a little painful. I learned to roll in and out of bed and used my arms to push myself up out of chairs like recliners. Straight-back chairs weren't as bad.
