Presidents Day

Great day to travel with my 2555LMT.

Does anyone know where I can find the routing priorities Garmin uses/calcs (in addition to user selections)? I've come across a strange routing change when adding an intermediate point on exactly the same route and destination. The new route offers a little longer route for the same time i.e. faster over the old route. My navigating preference is for a faster route ... why didn't I get that route in the first place?

Should have left it as >>>

"You can't get there from here"

Interesting

I noticed a couple times on long routes, I can go off-route for some reason, and no matter what, the GPS wants to direct me back to the original route. A couple times, if I stop navigating on the original route, then reload the original destination, a new, more efficient route results. It seems that the routing algorthm does not really always calculate a brand new route when your hear it say "Recalculating", but instead tends to try to get you back to the original route. I don't know how or when it decides to start over on its own. Just my empiracal observation, right, wrong, or indifferent.

Happy President's Day

happy....

President's day is in February.
Super Bowl is in February.

Wouldn't it make sense to honor our President's on the Monday following the SuperBowl?

depends

It can depend on how you entered the waypoint. The unit may be taking you off the main route to get to the location you set then routing you back to the main route.

Yeah, that's what I thought but when I enlarged the map to see the exact route in detail, there were no detours. The waypoint is indeed on the exact route originally traced by Garmin. Curious indeed! I'm sure there's gotta be a reason ...

I've found on multi-lane roads it's possible to have the waypoint in the westbound lane and you are trying to head east. That's two U-Turns plus the distances. So be very careful when checking the location.

President's Day

It's a good holiday. Everyone should get it! Comes at just the right time of year. Now on to St. Patrick's Day, even tho it's not a holiday for most.

President's Day

Had to change to presidents day cause it is meant to signify Lincoln and Washington's birthday. Both of those birthdays used to be holidays in February, but they changed the name of the holiday and took out Lincoln's birthday and replaced it with MLK in January. The respectful thing to have done would have been to add one, not replace one with another.

Agreed ... confirmed that also. Anyway, this would not cause a change in a route hundreds of miles away. Looks like trial & error is the only way to go to find out how/why this happens ... thanks anyway.

President Day

Back in the day, I wonder if George thought, "Some day they will have my name on furniture and clearance sales in honor of my birthday"
