new poi loader

This new version has some pretty nice features. Here are a few examples:

* uninstall all custom POI's from a device.
* support for contact information and address information that can be specified in a GPX (.gpx) file.
* ability to choose POI files to ignore.

Being a beta version I have my reservations about stability. Have you tested this or do you know of others that have used this new version?

Makes me think that a gps software review section would be a good idea.. Have you considered this and/or a way of doing polls at the forum? I use Delphi forums as an advanced member and they have some cool features. Just thinking "out loud" here..

The software we're using has some of those features as well. I'll look into them after the new POI database module is released and stable.

I just checked and it seems as though the latest version is POI Loader software version 2.3.2 as of August 21, 2006. I could not find the Beta version though!

That is the beta file that was mentioned. It isn't really a newly released beta. Wondering when Garmin will declare it a final version though. I've had pretty good luck with late beta's but would avoid Alpha's as they tend to be flaky.

The current beta version is 2.4.0. It's available from the link in RFB's post at the start of this thread.

2.3.2 is the current stable release version. It doesn't include the new features that are in 2.4.0.
