New

Just splurged on a new Camry SE. Who knows at 72 could be the last one. Pure white. Funny how color choices are so limited on some models.

Front Page

Never on the front page.

Speed up old computer

Something I spoted on the internet to speed up a old computer.

Got a slower, older Windows XP machine? Got a USB flash drive you're not using? Then you have extra memory to speed up that computer and extend it's life a bit.

First insert a flash drive
Open up the Control Panel.
Go to "System."
Choose the advanced Tab.
In the Performances section, click on "Settings."
Choose the advanced tab there.
In the "Virtual Memory" Section, press "Change."

Select the letter corresponding to your flash drive. You can let the system manage the size or customize the amount of space that you want used as virtual memory. I'm not going to use this flash drive for anything else, so I'll let the system manage it.
Make sure to Press Set once you've made your choice.
Press OK, and the changes will take effect.
Then restart your computer.

Thanks Charles for your tip. When I work with very large files of pics, I'm sure Drive K will kick in.

It's gonna be hot in CA this week too. But it is a lot more comfortable at 100° in CA than in NY. If I had a choice, I would pick CA.

Just finished our drive up to Michigan. At daughter's now and leaving tomorrow for Paris. Imagine. Her treat. Looking forward to a great trip. Everyone have a good couple weeks. We'll look in back here when we return. Weather's looking great, anything will be cooler than FL in July.

Spent some time last week

Spent some time last week traveling around VA with the GPS checking out National Park Service sites: Richmond battlefield sites and George Washington Birthplace. Check out Richmond if you want to learn a lot about the Civil War.

VA Sites

Don't forget Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and Manassas for other great historic venues and sites.

Just got back

from a 2 weeks vacation in BC+Alberta across the Canadian Rockies. Really nice, but damn the distances are long in our beautiful country...
