Finally here (trip to Ecuador)

Well, after 21 months of booking, planning, buying, and anticipating, our trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos is finally here. Tomorrow at 10:00 AM we head for the airport and the adventure of a lifetime. We're taking the GPS with us to get the obligatory "Where Am I?" pic at 0 degrees latitude. Four days of exploring the cloud forests, bird sanctuaries, markets and countryside of Quito, Ecuador, and then it's off to the Galapagos for eight days of visiting the islands where Charles Darwin formulated his "Origin of Species." Marine iguanas, blue footed boobies, giant tortoises, sea lions and creatures of all shapes and sizes - smile for the camera!

Pictures and descriptions when we return on 12/22. grin

Thanks to everone for the good wishes.

Gerry - that's another side benefit of the trip. No cell phones, email or internet for two weeks! Yippee!

sounds like an awesome trip! It's been on my list of places to go forever!

Ecuador

We did the Ecuador trip a year ago October and loved it. We were on a birding adventure but got to see many of the other sites. Quito can be cool so take along a sweater just in case....We covered most of Ecuador and a favorite was Sasha Lodge in the rain forest...

Have a great trip and I am sure you will enjoy....

Unless you are the lead sled dog, the view never changes. I is retard... every day is Saturday! I still use the Garmin 3590 LMT even tho I upgraded to the Garmin 61 LMT. Bigger screen is not always better in my opinion.

I was in the Galapagos 17 years ago...

...and it's a great place to visit. Hope you packed a ton of super duper high SPF lotion; we were all fried to a crisp in the first 24 hours from using only SPF50; that ozone hole down there is nasty.
