My 2 GPSrs Cannot Find Location?

I just put in the correct address on both my GPSrs and neither can find the below location. I decided to try another address near that exact location that I am looking for and that wasn't found either.

The address is: 100 US Highway 22, Green Brook, NJ

Can anyone advise, why this is happening?

Thanks,

100 US Highway 22, Green Brook, NJ

Try it using Dunellen, NJ. It looks like the two jurisdictions may intersect about there.

100 US Highway 22, Green Brook, NJ

Thanks, but it did not work.

local name?

Is there a more normal local name for hwy 22 in your area? I rather suspect that US Hwy 22 is rather long and looking for address "100" on it is the likely source of the problem.

Strange???

On my 660 with v2009 maps I was able to find that location by entering state>city>address, no problem. It shows up 100 US 22 Green Brook Twp 08812 as the address found on my unit. I also tried entering state>all cities>address but that brought up several choices for cities, none of them being Green Brook so I didn't know what to choose. Do you have the v2009 or newer maps in your units?

Strange???

Thanks for the reply. I have 2008 maps in both units. I guess that is the problem. Thanks, again.

.

Try typing in US 22 instead of US Highway 22 and select the result for Donellen, NJ and you will find it on the 2008 maps.

My De Lorme Street Atlas

My De Lorme Street Atlas 2007 found it with the Dunellen name. Try that with your units.

As a general rule I think

As a general rule I think the best way to find a highway address is to input the street as 22. Do not try Highway 22 or US Highway 22 or Hwy 22 etc.

In this case the number is 100, the street is 22 and always try to use zip codes.

.

You can't search by the zip codes on the US City Navigator maps.

Try to let the GPS do the work

Very often I find that the GPS doesn't have the address exactly as we know it. It may be advisable that in many cases it is better to enter as little detail as possible and allow the GPS to fill in the blanks ... IE: US Highway 22 just as 22.

In this case I happened to be able to find your address under 3 different entries with my 755t:

100 US Highway 22
Green Brook Twp, NJ 08812

100 US 22
Dunellen, NJ 08812

100 US Highway 22
Dunellen NJ 08812

I also see of this with other abbreviations such as Mount/Mt, etc.

Work around

Highway names

I agree that it is best to be general when using a highway name. Also, it is important to understand the local names. In my area there is a road RM620, and it also has the name Round Rock Avenue in my vicinity. Although everyone refers to RM620 for an address, the actual mailing addresses are Round Rock Avenue. Makes it difficult to determine what to enter.

Dynasty Oriental Steak
100 US 22
DUNELLEN, NJ 08812

I search it out by name of place. I used nuvi 255w
2009 map on it

I agree, for the street input I just used 22 and it worked in this case. grin
