newbie with 755t

love it ...

there are already LOTS of threads on this site about these units and peoples experiences with them ... surf around.

I had a 755T and I liked it, but at the time didn't feel I wanted Bluetooth and changed my mind and sent it back for a 765T.

The volume sounds very low on the 765 compared to the 755 and was wondering how the volume from your speaker is?

I have not played with the 755, but the speaker volume on my 765 is comparable to the nuvi360 I had.

How loud is that, djs? Is it plenty loud to keep up a conversation on Bluetooth?

I don't use the bluetooth too much, as I have an excellent BT headset.

The limited BT use that I've experienced ... the volume has varied. I tried using it for a conference call where the "host" was on a speaker phone and I couldn't hear well. One on one calls have been alright when driving locally, but a bit hard to hear when driving 70 on the highway.

Speaker volume has been plenty adequate to hear routing directions though.

The nav volume on mine is listenable, but still doesn't seem that loud.

I just about have to roll up the windows to hear a phone call on 100% volume.

I didn't think that the 755T had Bluetooth.

Perhaps you were thinking something different?

The 755T didn't have Bluetooth, but the volume sounded much louder for the Nav. I traded it for a 765 which does have Bluetooth. The volume at 100% is generally ok for Nav, but still not near as loud as the 755. With the vehicles side window open a little, it's barely adequate and sometimes inadequate to hear the conversation.

You can increase the volume using a couple of ways.
The following works with my 350 and 660. It alsow worked on the 7xx. Unsure about the newer models..

You could use an xml editor. (Like xvi32. FREE..google and DL it)
Open up the desired vpm voice file and locate the volume setting. Change it.

Or you could try TTSVoiceEditor_v251.zip (Free..google and DL it)
It has the option of setting the volume.

Again..unsure if it works on the newer x5x units, but you can certainly try the xml editor and see if the volume field is there.
As for the voice editor..google it. It may handle the newer units.

As for me? Ya..the volume is low with the stock settings.
I increased my volume on both units to 90.
Stock is set at 65.
Increasing to 90 makes a heck of a difference!
But I wouldnt go beyond that.

If you make any changes to the stock file, MAKE A BACKUP just in case...
If it doesnt work, you can always copy back the stock vpm.

Has anyone updated there 755T? I have updated the software version from 2.20 to 2.50 which is working fine. But there are other updates (call me chicken - see link below to photo) and was wondering if any brave soul has installed these particular updates that can give us some kind of review.
