and Canada...Fairfield Inn by Marriott is a lower cost brand of hotels that are franchised by Marriott International. The intended use is for guests requiring simply a place to sleep with fewer amenities. This allows Marriott to offer lower prices than would otherwise be possible. Such cost-saving approaches such as consistent building architecture, bedding, and the omission of a full-service restaurant are employed. Typically a continental breakfast is offered free, featuring a variety of breakfast items.
Many properties have amenities such as a pool, exercise room, whirpool, same-day dry cleaning, vending machines, and meeting rooms. The first location opened in 1987. The brand formerly included properties dubbed "Fairfield Suites"; however, since 1998, SpringHill Suites has taken over its place in the Marriott corporation. Many properties feature both suites and rooms, and these are called "Fairfleld Inn and Suites."
