I'm thinking about buying the 2495LMT from Costco. Can someone tell me if it has this feature:
Speed limit indicator (displays speed limit for most major roads in the U.S. and Europe,
According to Garmin's website, it says that it's not available on this model which is kind of odd.
I wish you could post images here. Anyway...the Garmin site here shows the speed limit on a 2495....
All the pics show it but when I did a comparison with 2 other units it says that the option is not available. Even my old 265WT has it. Maybe it's just a glitch on their website.
From Garmin support.
Which automotive devices display the speed limit indicator, and where is this feature available?

Many Garmin devices have a speed limit indicator that will show you the posted speed limit on most major roads and highways. This feature cannot be disabled, and is available in the following regions:
1Canada has very limited coverage of road speed limits.
This feature is available on the following devices:
1200 series (* Not available on the nuvi 1200 model.)
1300 series (* Not available on the nuvi 1300 model.)
The models below that have the Speed Limit Indicator feature also have Speed Limit Error Reporting. This gives you the ability to change the speed limit in the event that it is incorrect or add the speed limit if it does not exist in the mapping. Some roads will have the speed limit applied in segments, so it may be necessary to change the speed limit multiple times on a singular road.
Speed Limit Error Reporting
nuvi 2200 series
nuvi 2300 series
nuvi 2400 series
nuvi 3400 series
nuvi 3500 series
LIVE 2300 series
To report speed limit errors on the above models
Touch the speed limit icon that appears on the map
Use the arrows to adjust the speed up or down1
Touch Save to save the change
1On the LIVE 2300 series, touch Set Speed Limit prior to this step.
According to this
it has Speed limit warning. Someone here must have a 2495 to confirm or deny.
On the other hand the 2495LMT and the 2595LMT (mine)says it has Photo navigation and they discontinued that.
My model 2595 has the feature, and it's surprising how fast it reacts as you pass into a new speed zone. In the feature comparison, the 2495 shows NA. That is not the same as No and I'm certain it has it.
I have the 2495LMTHD from Costco. It sure does show the speed limits for just about all the streets here that have posted speed limits.
2495 has the speed limit indicator
Someone had to know for sure.
I have that model, and yes, it does display the speed limits.
Thanks for the info but still not 100% correct. I have a 1390T and it has the Speed Limit Indicator and according to this list it's not available.
Thanks Pillowcase and kstarr1. Someone had to own one. I just ordered one from Costco.
Just for clarification, it is only the "1300 model" out of the "1300 series" that does not have the speed limit indicator.
I have a 2495LMT and it shows speed limit - although it is very often out of date, i.e., speed limits have been adjusted upward and Garmin has not picked up on it.
YES it has posted speed limit on most highways in US.
MY 2495 is a N. America version and doesn't have Europe maps so I don't know. Does yours?
I ordered mine last week from Costco and it's not here yet. As per Costco's website it says that it has the N/A maps installed.
I wonder how this feature handles 2-way roads that have different speed limits on the respective sides. For example some major non-limited access highways have 2 or more lanes in each direction. Sometimes one side is in one jurisdiction, while the other side is in a different jurisdiction, and each jurisdiction has a different speed limit.
You can go to the Garmin site and make inputs for speed limits and school zones. They cannot keep up on the information without input from us, the people. I have tried to update some information however in the past and found it difficult to do so. I hope they have fixed the issues and/or have are trying to make it easier for us to update.
