The following store has been closed for almost a year (IIRC) and must be removed from the file:

A couple months ago, I posted that there is a Starbucks a couple blocks from my house that isn't being 'seen' by POI's... I've never seen it alert me when I drive by......

I understand the goal is to list all Starbucks locations, corporate or franchise owned. The problem with listing the franchised locations is that they may not be convenient while driving the interstate. If the GPS tells you there is a Starbucks at an airport or shopping mall, will you park and walk in or opt for a nice friendly corporate store with drive-thru? I would like to see the list constructed in such a way that we could identify services such as wifi and drive thru. Is this possible?

Hi I've noticed that my GPS is programed with Starbucks info already. I'm sure there will be innacuracies due to new or closed stores. But my biggest wish for the list is to show me if the store has a drive thru / wifi / airport / etc... is there a way, perhaps, to incorporate it in the name ie: Starbucks - (D, W) This would be a big help, especially with those who have several kids in the car and need that starbucks fix without the hassle of taking the kiddos out.

If you are using your device for actual coordinates, the setting can be changed to display the coordinates in other formats.

I just want to let you know that an updated post for the POI file will be delayed for approximately a week.

The suggestion to include the additional store info wi-fi, drive up window, etc. and store location, retail, university, airport, etc. is a good one and it will allow a kicked up version of the POI, sort of a next generation attempt for a fresh look.

I also want to take this time to personally recognize AJ500, as he has has stepped up and has been an extremely big help to me.

That being said, please be patient for a little bit longer for the POI file update. All of the reported info on this discussion will also be included.

The plan going forward is to update the entire database and include the additional store info, as suggested. I am working with AJ500 to code it all and will publish a key on the POI download page when we finalize it. Once established, I will try to have at least a quarterly update, monthly if time permits.

I appreciate your patience, as we move forward on the next generation of improvements to this file.

All but one of the locations in Rockwall, TX were off, possibly generated by street addresses rather than actual physical locations of the stores. Also, one new one inside a Kroger should be added. These locations were generated with ACTUAL coordinates of the store front iteself and are the only ones I know of within the City of Rockwall, TX.

Thanks for the info, I just posted a major update for the database. Since these are verified storefront coordinates, I will work them into the February file update post.

Thank you for the update. If I can have a wish, please don't change the filename for each revision: It forces additional steps to keep in sync with the icon and sound files.

Have you ever tried to open the file and then do a save as? That's only 1 "extra" step and you don't have to rename anything.

You can save it to whatever name you want when you download it - or if you save to the location where the old file is, click on it and the file name will change to the name that was clicked on - then select yes to over write.

Sorry, but each update post will have a different file name.

After downloading the most recent version (1/6), I noticed duplicates for near-by Starbucks. The address for each is off slightly making it appear as a different store. I also have been getting multiple hits on a store location where only one exists. I will try and rationalize the stores near-by and update them for you. In the mean time, I have reverted back to the previous version.

Note on duplicates - many are duplicates caused by multiple Starbucks' stores located in buildings like airports, malls, schools and institutions, etc. It was decided to leave these in to allow those using devices inside these locations to report actual coordinates for them to further enhance to the database.

I have no problem with that decision. I would suggest a minor clarification on two listings with the same address. On the Excel listing, lines 356 and 357. It is a mall and of course the same street address is used. For one listing it clearly shows Albertson's as the location. The other listing is a corporate store buried deep inside of the mall. There is no clue as to where it is. I would suggest in the description line that you add Desert Ridge Mall. At least someone will be looking and understand it is NOT on the coner or Tatum and Loop 101. I see that this is the way that Starbucks lists it on their web page, but for our purposes, a little clarification might help.

Let me throw this out to everyone -

I had a discussion with AJ500 and I want to know how you all feel with merging the Canada and US POIs?

Canadian stores total approximately 1052 points (10%) more.

Any thoughts? - based on the feedback, I will make a decision and will go with what the majority of what all of you want.

If it is merged into a US_CA file, I will need some help from Miss POI for clean up to only have one download portal.

Also on a separate note - is anyone interested in a gpx version?

Including Canada: It doesn't make much difference to me. It's like having a state that I never drive to. It is there 'just-in-case'. I think the bigger issue is maintaining the data base. My vote is you decide.

GPX?. I would like a GPX version. I do convert it myself. A direct download would be nice.

What method did you use for obtaining the geocodes?

Most of the ones listed are in neighborhoods and locations that don't appear to have commercial infrastructure.

The one in the file does match where Starbucks shows it on their website but that happens to be in the desert about 5 miles to the west.

And here's a few more local ones corrected/updated. A couple were close but I used satellite images to place them right on the store (the Virgo in me). One was down the street a bit, another entirely on the wrong side of the road and off by 200 feet easily, and another was across a major intersection and quite a ways off.

I used google earth and my personal knowledge about this locations that I know already,but my point is this: please do me a favor and use your gps and set it to simulate the routes and set your location at:

-95.194877, 30.004135 (Cypresswood dr & FM 1960) zip 77338

and travel east on FM 1960 to the corner of Kenswick dr and you'll see that when you get to the corner of Humble Westfield rd & FM 1960 you'll see the announcement for 6 Starbucks that don't exist.

By the way...all of these coordinates are in degrees and not converted to decimal coordinates.

Not to worry - I found them with google street view to verify that the actual store was there. The coordinates that you supplied were also off and were corrected.

Coordinates that are captured at the actual store location are the preferred and I always make it a point to get these wherever I go. That being said, if you can get the actual (in front of the door) coordinates, it would be appreciated.

I also changed the name of some of the locations to the actual cross streets in the description field.

I think that you will be happy with the Feb release which will be posted on or before the first of the month. The new post will also have the Canadian locations ,merged into the db. I will also be uploading a gpx version.

The address is correct but the GPS coordinates need to be touched up. Took readings on my unit and verified in Google: -83.67089 32.617978.

The existing coordinates put you on the wrong side and almost a block away. Almost missed it.

OK I will change the revision control naming. I posted a new file Starbucks_NA_Feb(a).csv

FYI to all - the file can be named to anything you want when you download it and save it to your computer.

Miss POI - I would like to be able to post a gpx version. I have had many emails expressing the interest. The only way to keep the file size to < 1MB would be to post a zip file. I do not want to break it up into regions, as it would be a PITA to maintain. The Red Light Cam download is a zip file, so I know that it is possible. Is there something that I am unaware of the would disallow a zip file post?

The red light camera files are in a different system. We are not set up to publish zip files here on the site.

You will have to break them up by region.
