Eclipse 4-8-2024 USA

2 1/2 hours of eclipse packed in to 16 minutes. Apparently I took 315 still shots. I guess it would have been better on a camera stand and without the occasional cloud cover but here's my contributions to the zillions of eclipse pictures you'll see today.

Taken in my backyard in Southeastern PA with a Lumix camera and solar filter.

been there

Been there, done that. Stayed indoors and away from the media circus. It seems strange this eclipse was so heavily hyped by the media while the last one was a Ho-Ho event.

Did you hear about the two loonies…

…who blamed the eclipse and the earthquake in NJ and NY on global warming. Can you say, “Loony Toons“? They don’t know that earthquakes and eclipses have been happening since time began. Boggles the mind how stupid some people can be.

Just perfect...

maddog67, You and I were in the perfect places to see a perfect eclipse. You're in southwest Ohio and I'm in northeast Ohio, both of us directly in line with the totality. Here it was 72 degrees and sunny, perfect for a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition.

Ohio Eclipse Viewing

We watched the eclipse at a Walmart in Ohio. The store shut down for half an hour to let the employees come outside to see it.

Burlington, VT

Burlington, VT. 6 hrs travel up from my home and 7 hrs travel back for about 3-1/2 minutes of totality?

Worth it.

More coming, the next solar

Nice, thanks! We had clouds here.
More coming, the next solar active period will have some blame the solar flares on global warming. Oh well, what can you do.

Eclipse

Despite the 70+% cloud cover forecast, we drove 5 hours up to Erie PA.

It rained all morning on eclipse day but began to clear around noon. It was still cloudy when the eclipse began but miraculously cleared just before totality, and I was able to get a few good pictures:

You need to use Google chrome to view.

no clouds

Our forecast was for clouds. Thankfully, it was a clear sky for the entire event. Had family over and enjoyed the entire show without leaving my property.

Nice pic. BTW it worked fine with Firefox.

Packed Streets

Streets were so packed here in NYC with people wearing glasses staring at the sky between 3P-4P! That was a spectacle within itself! Lol!

Total Eclipses Are Amazing to See Overhead

This total eclipse was longer and darker than 2017 mainly due to the decreased distance from the moon this time. It was fantastic to see the prominences so vividly with naked eye or binoculars during the safe totality minutes.

No way I would have stayed indoors for such an amazing natural event right in our back yard!

2024 Eclipse

I attended an eclipse "watch" party, thrown by the hotel where I stayed in Erie, PA. I found it quite interesting viewing the crowd during totality. Some were less than impressed while others cheered. Many were genuinely moved to tears.

I guess it shows just how different we all are.

Disappointing with the

Disappointing with the clouds. Very little breaks and the ones that happened were short and not completely clear in Buffalo. The last one in Western NC was perfect.
